Our Founding Story
The idea of Nexgeneracers and subsequent development of NXG Youth Motorsports, was born out of several years of collaboration between Charles Wilson and Rodney (Rod) Reid. Their relationship began in 1979 with open-wheel racing and showcasing high-performance vehicles on the west coast. Charles, a mechanic and driver, and Rod, a designer and team manager, contested their Formula Ford and Formula SuperVee teams throughout the 1980’s. Their dream of building a Black-led effort to impact the racing world, like NXG was created in the fall of 1991, but took over a decade to realize. From the start of their friendship to the founding of NXG, Charles & Rod shared a strong desire to enrich the lives of young people.
