Our Founding Story

Since 1979, Charles Wilson (d. 2011) and Rodney (Rod) Reid united their passion for racing and youth enrichment. Competing in open-wheel racing with Formula Ford and Formula SuperVee teams throughout the 1980s, they shared a dream of fostering Black-led impact in motorsports. In 1991, they conceived “Nexgeneracers,” which evolved into NXG Youth Motorsports, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, their commitment has empowered thousands of students, blending racing with life success.
